Breaking Free

I’m disconnected when it comes to knowing where I’m supposed to go

And I’m reluctant to find out

Maybe it’s because I know that it won’t be easy

Or maybe I just don’t know how

The looks on peoples’ faces when they pass me by is no surprise

They can see right through these brave eyes

They can see the parts of me that I have tried to hide

Oh but I can’t hide

And I’m crying out

Give me some direction

I’m running now

With open arms and searching eyes

No more will I be a statue on display for them to see

The less than perfect parts of me

I’m breaking free

No one can see the real me when I cannot stand to see myself

It’s time I take that lonely girl off the shelf

So she can see there’s no need to be searching for perfection

No, it don’t exist as you’ve imagined

And I'm crying out

Give me some direction

I’m running now

With open arms and searching eyes

No more will I be a statue on display for them to see

The less than perfect parts of me

I’m breaking free

They can point and they can stare

And they can act like they don’t care

About me and what I see

And what they say when I’m not there

And I’ll walk away

Cause I won’t let them tear me down anymore

I’ve found a strength they can’t ignore

They can point and they can stare

And they can act like they don’t care

About me and what I see

And what they say when I’m not there

And I’ll walk away

Cause I won’t let them tear me down anymore

I’ve found a strength they can’t ignore

I’ve found a strength I can’t ignore

No more will I be a statue on display for them to see

The less than perfect parts of me

I’m breaking free
